Harry Kane has committed his immediate future to Tottenham Hotspur despite interest from Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane has announced he would remain at the club, putting an end to Manchester City’s long-running chase of the England captain.
In May, the 28-year-old told Spurs of his intention to depart, and despite City manager Pep Guardiola admitting the Premier League champions’ interest in Kane, the two clubs were unable to strike a deal.
Kane made his first appearance of the season in City’s 1-0 victory against Wolves on Sunday, but the club is likely to make a last-ditch effort to sign him before the transfer deadline on August 31.

“It was wonderful to witness the Spurs fans’ reaction on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve received in the past few weeks,” Kane said on Twitter on Wednesday, putting an end to speculation over his future.
“I will remain at Tottenham this summer and will devote my whole attention to assisting the club in achieving victory.”

Kane’s declaration ends a drama that started when the striker believed he had a verbal understanding with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he would be allowed to go if an acceptable offer was made.
Spurs valued Kane at more than £150 million and were hesitant to engage into talks since the striker has three years remaining on his £200,000-a-week deal and is a key member of the squad.
According to ESPN, City would be prepared to pay £100 million and perhaps include players in any trade, but insiders from both clubs disputed that a formal offer was ever made.
According to Spurs insiders, Kane tried to force a move by reporting late for preseason training, but subsequently released a statement emphasizing that he had never refused to train.

Throughout the controversy, Spurs head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has said that Kane was handled like any other member of the team, gradually reintegrating following a prolonged summer break coming from England’s march to the Euro 2020 final.
“This is fantastic news. This is fantastic news for everyone “Nuno made the announcement during a press conference on Wednesday. “We appreciate Harry’s work ethic, which he has shown since joining us. His attitude has been fantastic throughout training sessions. It’s done, and Harry will be joining us. He worked today, and he’s a possibility for tomorrow. As I have said, this is great news for everyone.”
“We’re all overjoyed. One of the world’s greatest players. We’re all relieved to have another alternative for the next season.
“I’m not concerned at all [about Kane’s possible departure]. It’s day by day, and he’s a possibility for tomorrow [when Spurs face Pacos de Ferreira in the second leg of their Europa League qualifier]. This is the only thing that comes to mind, and this is my only thought: make the greatest choices possible to assist the squad tomorrow, and Harry is one of the possibilities. I’m not going to reveal what we’re talking about. It is only the two of us.”
When Spurs defeated City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the opening weekend of the season, he was not in the matchday squad, prompting thousands of home supporters to chant, “Are you watching Harry Kane?”
Kane’s 20-minute cameo at Molineux on Sunday drew a more favourable response from Tottenham’s away fans, and he may make his first home appearance of the season on Thursday.
