Grinding Gear Games has been teasing the 3.16 Scourge expansion for Path of Exile with announcements of announcements; we already know the major reveal is scheduled for October 14th, with PC and console releases following on October 22nd and 27th, respectively. What you really want to know is what’s in there, and the studio is finally starting to show it off this week. First up is a new dev blog on flasks and disease mitigation, which isn’t as boring as it sounds, since it’s basically a mix of balance and quality-of-life.
“We’re implementing a lot of improvements in Path of Exile: Scourge (our October 3.16 expansion) to enhance how players manage illnesses, utilize flasks, and increase their characters’ defense,” GGG says. “We’re also tackling the excessive power of Auras and Curses in parties, as well as increasing the strength of these mechanics for builds that need less effort.” Finally, we’re altering Elemental Overload and Equilibrium, as well as significantly boosting elemental damage over time to make it less reliant on them.”
The blog article is heavy and detailed, so dedicated gamers will want to read it all the way through as GGG addresses every nagging issue. Stay tuned for two more blogs from the studio, which will cover basic character defenses and rexover, as well as auras, curses, and elemental DoTs.
